Repair, Replacement, Accidental
In this Easycare Plan (“Plan”), “we”, “us” and “our” refers to Staples Canada ULC.
(Staples) and “you” and “your” refers to the purchaser of the Plan. By purchasing this Easycare Plan, you understand that this is a legal contract and you acknowledge that you have read and you accept these terms and conditions.
What the Plan covers
In order to maintain the operating conditions of the product covered by this Plan:
- Repair & Repair Accidental Plans:
We will, at our option, provide or obtain labour and replacement parts or provide or obtain repair services, or issue a gift card for the value of the product in operating condition at the time of your claim,
provided the product has failed during the Plan’s term during normal usage. Staples may use refurbished parts to complete repairs. The limit of our liability shall be the depreciated value of the product at the time of your claim, excluding the cost of the Extended Warranty Plan.
- Replacement & Replacement Accidental Plans:
We will, at our option, provide a replacement product or issue a gift card for the value of the selling price of the original product, provided the product has failed during the Plan’s term during normal usage. Due to technological advances, if we choose to replace the product, the selling price of the replacement product may be lower than the selling price of the original product and the original product becomes the property of Staples. Once the defective device has been dropped off to the store and the claim has been processed, a gift card can be issued in-store or by email within 24 business hours.
Deductibles:
A deductible applies to the following products and is dependent on the price of the applicable plan: Mobile phones $ 0 -$249.99 …$25.00; $250 - $349.99 ...$50; $350 - $449.99 ...$75; $450 - $549.99 ...$100; $550 - $749.99 ...$125; $750+...$150
Tablets $250 - $499.99 ...$50; $500 - $999.99 ...$75; 1000+...$100
Accidental Plans:
Accidental Plan coverage includes liquid spills, drops, cracks, broken AC pins and LCD screens. Accidental coverage is limited to ONE repair over the life term of your Accidental Plan. Accidental plans must be purchased on the same receipt as the product and the replacement or repair plan.
Product Eligibility:
This Plan only covers products purchased from Staples, for which you have paid the correct Plan purchase price.
Manufacturer’s Responsibility:
During the manufacturer’s warranty coverage period, please contact the manufacturer directly. Should you contact us, we will refer you to the applicable manufacturer.
Term of the Plan:
The term of this Plan begins when the product’s manufacturer’s warranty is fully expired, except for Accidental Plans, in which case the term begins from the date of product purchase. It continues for the specified number of years, except if a gift card or replacement product is provided under the Plan, in which case the Plan ends on the date the gift card or replacement product is provided. In the event of a settlement or replacement, the original product becomes the property of Staples. We reserve the right to request the return of the unit to the store before proceeding with the replacement or gift card. Unauthorized repairs may void this Plan.
One-time Virus Removal for Laptops/Netbooks/Desktops:
Coverage begins from the date of eligible product purchase and is limited to one-time use for the life of the Easycare Plan. This Plan does not cover loss or damage resulting from a computer virus, including but not limited to damage to stored data or hardware failure during manufacturer’s warranty.
One-time Laptop/Desktop Data Recovery Plan:
The Data Recovery Plan must be purchased in conjunction with an Easycare Plan for a laptop/desktop computer. Data Recovery Plan is limited to one attempt of data recovery over the life term of the plan. By purchasing the Data Recovery Plan, you acknowledge the following: If the media/data/equipment is damaged/inoperable, the efforts of Staples to analyze the damage may result in further damage to the media/data/equipment. (For example, Staples may need to force open the hard drive case.) Staples is committed to using reasonable efforts with our existing technology, expertise and techniques; however, we cannot promise or guarantee a successful data recovery.
How to Obtain Service:
If your product requires service during the Plan term, please call our toll-free service line: 1-877-258-0369. We will direct you to bring the product to one of our retail stores. In some cases, you may need to ship the product to a designated service centre at your own expense. Any repairs not authorized by Staples will not be reimbursed.
Availability of Service:
We will try to complete service for your product quickly, but we are not responsible for delays beyond our control. This service is only valid in Canada. Any repairs not authorized by Staples will not be reimbursed and may, in fact, void the Plan.
What Is Not Covered:
The Easycare Plan does not cover damage caused by: • Failure to provide manufacturer’s recommended maintenance or to operate in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. • Accidental or physical impact, spilled liquids.* • Intentional damage, misuse or abuse. • Fire, exposure to weather, earthquake, Act of God or battery leakage. • Damage to electronic fi les and software, including damage caused by repairs under this Plan (it is your responsibility to back up all data residing on any product prior to delivery of the product to us, under this Plan), consequential or incidental damages, including, without limitation, damages for loss of use. • Damages related to delays in providing service under this Plan. • Damage of a cosmetic nature or the cost of lost or consumable parts (including, without limitation, drums, toners, ink cartridges, consumable print heads, LCD projector bulbs, batteries for cameras/tablets, cell phones, cordless phones and any other disposable type of product, excluding laptop batteries and adapters which have a one-time replacement).• Damage to any accessories or attachments. • Damages resulting from modifications to any product component. • Damage to PDA screens or LCD screens on laptops, tablets or computers*. • Loss or theft of product, software, data or accessories. • Cleaning and/or other maintenance services. • On-site service. • Restoration or recovery of DVDs. *Covered by the accidental plan (if purchased with an Easycare Plan).
Transfer of Plan:
The Plan is not transferable by you.
Cancellation:
We may cancel this Plan at our option on the basis of fraud or misrepresentation, or the unauthorized repair of the product. You may cancel this Plan for any reason within 30 days of purchase and receive a full refund on the Plan price, less the cost of any claims paid (if any). To receive your refund, you must return to any Canadian Staples location with this document and all original receipts. After 30 days, no refund will be applied.
Complete Agreement:
This document sets out the complete agreement between you and us with respect to the Plan. There are no other representations, warranties or agreements between you and us with respect to the Plan or the product.
Limitation of Liability: Staples is not responsible for special, indirect, incidental, consequential, multiple or punitive damages of any kind, including, without limitation, lost profits, even if advised of the possibility thereof. Staples’ liability for direct damages, if any, shall not exceed the price paid by Customer for this Plan.
In this easycare plan (“Plan”), “we”, “us” and “our” refers to Staples Canada ULC. (Staples) and “you” and “your” refers to the purchaser of the Plan. By purchasing this easycare plan, you understand this is a legal contract and you acknowledge that you have read and accept these terms and conditions.
In consideration of the stated fee, Staples, agrees to provide the following: If your purchase from Staples is not delivered for any reason, the fee paid for this contract will be refunded and the contract shall become null and void. The limit of liability for us under this contract shall be the original purchase price of the product.
At our sole option, the covered product will be cleaned and/or repaired. There is no limit on the number of cleanings and/or repairs that can be performed on the product covered under this contract.
Product Eligibility:
This Plan only covers products purchased from Staples, for which you have paid the correct Plan purchase price.
What the Plan Covers:
All household food and beverage product stains; all stains incurred from human bodily fluids, including blood, water rings and heat marks resulting from use within a normal environment; checking, lifting, cracking or peeling of finishes on solid wood, veneered or laminated furniture; damage caused by nail polish or cosmetics; cracking, peeling or scaling of leather finish; protection against premature wear and seam separation, accidental punctures, tears, marking from ink or cigarette burns; structural defects to frames such as warping and frame breakage; breaking or bending of metal components such as recliners and sleep mechanisms; swivel rocker bases and springs; excessive loss of foam resiliency to cushions; protection against glass breakage, fading from sunlight, wheels, casters, routine services and transportation costs incurred under the manufacturer’s warranty.
Term:
The term of the contract begins on day 91 (ninety-one) after date of purchase. For chairs, the term of this contract will begin on day 7 (seven) after date of purchase.
Manufacturer’s Responsibility:
For any claims outside of terms of this agreement, please contact the manufacturer directly. Should you contact us, we will refer you to the applicable manufacturer.

Availability of Service:

What Is Not Covered:
Loss or damage caused to the covered product while outside Canada; costs arising from damage caused by failure to comply with manufacturer’s instructions for use; negligent, willful abuse or misuse of the covered product; fi re, smoke, lightning, theft, explosion, flood or earthquake; scratching, denting or chipping, however caused; wind, weather, rust, corrosion; scorching or damage from heat sources (i.e. electric heaters, torches and soldering irons); cleansing the covered product from normal wear and tear; loss or damage to the covered product while in the course of transit, delivery, or re-delivery; damage caused from any physical force; stains caused by but not limited to dyes (i.e. hair, clothing and shoe dyes), acids, corrosives or non-approved cleaners; loss of use of the covered product or consequential or incidental loss of any nature; the cost of repairs or cleaning carried out by anyone other than our authorized agents. For leather products, crazing of leather finishes is not covered.
Transfer of Plan: This Plan is not transferable by you.
Cancellation:
We may cancel this Plan at our option on the basis of fraud or misrepresentation, or the unauthorized repair of the product. You may cancel this Plan for any reason within thirty (30) days of purchase and receive a full refund on the Plan price, less the cost of any claims paid (if any). To receive your refund, you must return to any Staples location with this document and all original receipts. After thirty (30) days no refund will be applied.
Conditions:
We will arrange and pay the costs of cleaning and/or repair of the product covered under this contact. If the product cannot be repaired, at our discretion and sole option, a Gift Card will be provided equal to the original purchase price of the product including taxes. All benefits under this contract will cease if a fraudulent claim is made or a Gift Card is provided in lieu of repairs. The coverage provided applies only to the products identified herein.
Entire Contract: This instrument sets forth the entire contract between the parties and no representation or promise or condition not contained herein shall alter these items
Monthly Easycare Service Protection Plans (ECP Plus)
Agreement
These terms and conditions (“Terms of Service”) set out the rights, obligations and limitations of Staples Canada ULC and its third party service providers (“Staples” or “us” or “we” or “our”) and you, the customer (“you” or “Customer”) for the Staples Services (defined below under “Scope of Agreement”).
These Terms of Service, together with (a) your invoice for the Staples Services and all included terms, notices and amendments; and (b) all applicable Staples Service-specific terms, schedules, end-user license agreements, rules, policies or other documents attached to or referred to in these Terms of Service, or located at the URLs specified in these Terms of Service, or to which you may be directed when you order or use the Staples Services, including the Staples acceptable use policy as amended from time to time and shown as a schedule to these Terms of Service (“AUP”) to the extent they are not modified and/or replaced by these Terms of Service (all of which constitute the “Documents”), form Staples agreement with you (“Agreement”). To the extent of any conflict or inconsistency between the Documents and these Terms of Service, the Terms of Service will prevail unless stated otherwise in any of the Documents. Your access to and use of the Staples Services (current and future) constitutes your acceptance of all the terms of the Agreement. As the Customer, you are solely responsible for the use of the Staples Services by yourself and other end users. You shall (a) take all necessary measures to ensure that the Staples Services are used in accordance with the Agreement and (b) be liable for all consequences resulting from any breach of the Agreement.
Scope of Agreement
The term “Staples Services” includes all devices, equipment, hardware or other products owned or supplied by Staples to be used in connection with the applicable Staples Services (“Staples Equipment”) The Agreement applies to all current and future Staples Services you obtain from Staples as listed on your invoice or order, with no additional copies or other evidence of agreement required to be delivered to you, and such additional Staples Services shall be billed at the then-current rates.
Changes to Agreement
Staples may change the Staples Services, the Agreement, any Fees (defined in ”Fees, Payment & Charges”), amounts, charges (including one-time charges), and/or other aspect of any of the Staples Services upon at least 30 days prior notice to you (subject to “Fees, Payment & Charges”), by posting the change on staples.ca, sending notice via a message on your monthly invoice, in writing, by email notification, or any other notice method likely to come to your attention. If you do not accept the change, your sole recourse is to terminate the affected Staples Service (in accordance with the section entitled “Termination by Customer”). Your continued access to and use of the Staples Services after the change has come into effect constitutes your acceptance of the change and you expressly agree that
(a) You will be deemed to have accepted the change, with no additional written agreement or express acknowledgement required; and (b) you will continue to be responsible to pay for all Staples Services.
Fees, Payment & Charges
You shall pay all applicable fees due for the Staples Services (“Fees”), and all other applicable amounts, charges and taxes indicated to you when you purchase the Staples Easycare Plus Plan or otherwise relayed to you by Staples from time to time or noted on your payment receipt. Unless otherwise specified on your Staples payment receipt or in the applicable Staples Service-specific terms, Staples will bill you monthly and you shall pay Staples all invoiced Fees, charges and taxes on a monthly basis by credit card. Receipts for the Fees may be produced, submitted and delivered either electronically or on paper. If payment is not received by Staples within 30 days of the invoice date including failure of credit card processing due incorrect information or insufficient credit which has not been rectified, Staples will proceed to cancel the Staples Service with no obligation to reinstate service or any of the coverages included in those services. Prior to termination, however, Staples will make attempts to contact you using two separate methods, provided two methods of contact were made provided by you at the time of purchase. Staples is not responsible for ensuring the accuracy of customer contact information in our records. If you have any concerns about the accuracy of any personal information on file, it is your responsibility to contact the Staples Tech Services Customer Support team to request any corrections.
Any promotional bundle fees, discounts, credits, rebates or other financial incentives you receive for any Staples Service (“Promotional Package”) will apply only for so long as you meet Staples eligibility requirements.
Staples may bill you for any Fees up to 12 months after the date the Fees were incurred. If you question or dispute any Fees, you must do so within 90 days of the disputed invoice date; otherwise you will be deemed to accept all Fees. Disputed Fees will not be considered past due unless Staples has investigated and concluded that the charges are correct and there is no basis for the dispute, or reasonably believes you are using the dispute to evade or delay payment.
You must ensure that the billing and payment information you provide to Staples (including name, mailing address, email address, service address, credit card details and telephone number) is always up to date, otherwise Staples may suspend the Staples Services.
Pre-authorized Payment
If you provide a credit card to Staples for your monthly payments, you authorize Staples to charge your credit card for all outstanding Fees, taxes and charges and outstanding account balances due under the Agreement and this constitutes good and sufficient authority from you for so doing. You promise that the credit card is in your name, is valid and has not expired. You shall promptly advise Staples if your credit card information changes due to loss, theft, cancellation or otherwise.
Initial Service Period; Renewals; Term
Staples Services will be provided to you on a 30 day month-to-month basis (“Monthly Term”) The initial service period of any Staples Service will begin on the earlier of the date (a) the date on which the plan was purchased; or (b) the date on which the product covered by the plan was purchased. Unless the applicable Staples Service is terminated in accordance with the Agreement, the Initial Service Period will automatically continue on the same terms contained herein (subject to Staples rights in Section entitled “Changes to Agreement” and “Fees, Payment & Charges”), for a term of 60 months. The Initial Service Period and all subsequent Renewal Terms are called the “Term”.
Termination by Customer -
To terminate service, you may contact, the Staples' Tech Services Customer Support Centre by phone 1-877-258-0369.
Termination is effective on the date prior to your next regularly scheduled payment. Termination may not be effected retroactively.
Service Refusal, Suspension and Termination by Staples
Staples may without any liability and in its sole discretion (i) refuse to provide any Staples Services to you, in whole or in part; or (ii) stop or suspend the provision of any or all or any part of the Staples Easycare Plus plan to you, for cause, including if (A) you breach or fail to comply with any part of the Agreement (including the AUP); (B) you fail to pay your Fees or other required amounts pursuant to this Agreement or (C) your use of the Staples Services or other services is fraudulent, inappropriate, not consistent with your ordinary usage patterns established with Staples, or is being used in or directed to high cost of service areas to an extent not supportable by your rate plan and Fees for your Staples Services. You remain obligated to pay for the Staples Services during any suspension. If your Staples Service is suspended and the reason for suspension has not been resolved within 10 days from the suspension date, Staples may discontinue and terminate the Staples Service.
(b) Staples may without any liability and in its sole discretion (i) immediately terminate any of the Staples Services and the Agreement by written notice and specify a final payment date for all amounts that you owe not earlier than 10 days from the date of the notice.
Confidentiality of Customer Records; Personal and Credit Information
(a) All information Staples keeps about you, other than your name, address and listed telephone number, is confidential. Unless you provide express consent, Staples will not share information to anyone other than you. You will be deemed to have given your express consent when any of the following occur: (A) you provide written consent; (B) oral confirmation is verified by a Staples employee; (C) Staples receives electronic confirmation via the Internet; (D) Staples receives oral consent where Staples retains an audio recording of the consent; or (E) Staples obtains consent through other methods, as long as an objective documented record of your consent.
(b) Staples protects your personal information in a manner consistent with Staples Privacy Policies available at staples.ca and applicable laws.
Service Agreement
Staples Easycare Plus repair, accidental COMPUTER/LAPTOP
In this Extended Service Plan (“Plan”), “we”, “us” and “our” refers to Staples Canada Inc. (Staples) and “you” and “your” refers to the purchaser of the Plan. By purchasing this Staples Easycare Plus plan, you understand this is a legal contract and you acknowledge that you have read, and you accept, these terms and conditions.
WHAT THE PLAN COVERS
In order to maintain the product covered by this Plan in operating condition, we will, at our option:
• We will, at our option, provide or obtain labor and replacement parts, or provide or obtain repair services, or issue a gift card for the value of the product at the time of the purchase (less $50 deductible for each accidental claim, if applicable) provided the product has failed during the Plan’s term during normal usage. Staples may use refurbished parts to complete repairs.
• Annual maintenance through running diagnostic software and providing recommendations of select preventative maintenance
• One Time Data recovery provided the product has failed during the plan’s term.
• If an accidental service has been purchased, Staples will repair the laptop up to two “2” times during the plan’s term. All accidental claims are subjected to a $50 deductible fee for each accidental claim request made during the plan’s term.
• The limit of our liability under the Plan shall be the original purchase price of the product (less $50 deductible for each accidental claim, if applicable), excluding the cost of the extended warranty plan. Staples is not responsible for special, indirect, incidental, consequential, multiple or punitive damages of any kind, including, without limitation, lost profits, even if advised of the possibility thereof. Staples’ liability for direct damages, if any, shall not exceed the price paid by the Customer for this plan.
• Limited Technical Support available during service centre hours, throughout the plan’s term. Service will be provided, at our option, online via remote support and chat functionalities, or over the phone.
PRODUCT ELIGIBILITY
This Plan only covers products purchased from Staples, for which you have paid the correct Plan purchase price.
TERM OF THE PLAN
The term of this Plan begins from the date of product purchase. It continues for the specified number of months that was purchased, and could be renewed up to five “5” years, except if a gift card is provided under the Plan, in which case the Plan ends on the date the gift card is provided. Any parts replaced under the plan become the property of Staples. Unauthorized repairs may void this plan. Staples may use refurbished parts to complete some repairs.
MANUFACTURER’S RESPONSIBILITY
During the manufacturer’s warranty coverage period, please contact the manufacturer directly for any product failures per their warranty agreement. Should you contact us, we will direct you to the applicable manufacturer.
Data Recovery
Data recovery is limited to one attempt over the Term of the plan. By subscribing to the Easycare Plus Plan and utilizing this portion of the service, you acknowledge the following:
• These terms and conditions apply in addition to the standard warranty terms and conditions and shall always prevail in case of conflict.
• This data recovery coverage does not include the recovery or restoration of software programs.
• Staples is not responsible for data loss, loss of use, disruption of business activities, or other consequential damages as a result of services rendered. You acknowledge the inherent risks of data damage involved in this Data Recovery Service, including without limitation, risks due to destruction and inability to recover data, or inaccurate or incomplete data recovery. Thus Staples or its Service Providers cannot be held liable for such damages or guarantee recovery.
• Customer owned devices may fail during the diagnostics/repair process. Staples is not liable for any hardware failures or resulting data loss, however caused.
• Staples is committed to using reasonable efforts with our existing technology, expertise and techniques; however, we cannot promise or guarantee a successful data recovery.
• The media that the data will be supplied back on is at the discretion of Staples dependent upon the size of data recovered
• All work will be provided in accordance with Staples’ privacy policy, available at https://help.staples.ca/hc/en-us
• Staples will not be held responsible for items left for more than 90 days after the customer has been contacted and, furthermore, Staples will responsibly recycle/dispose of any such abandoned equipment after 90 days without further communication.
• Customer assumes all loss, damage and liability as a result of abandoned equipment recycling/disposal.
Only single drive, Windows/Mac operating systems covered under the Data Recovery portion of this service.
HOW TO OBTAIN SERVICE

CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY
Before giving your unit for service, remove any personal information, and remove any accessories, including digital storage. It is your responsibility to back up all data before leaving the unit at the store. There is a possibility of lost of data during the service repair, or maintenance.
AVAILABILITY OF SERVICE
We will try to complete service for your product quickly, but we are not responsible for delays beyond our control. This service is only valid in Canada. Any repairs not authorized by Staples will not be reimbursed and may, in fact, void the Plan and any coverage included therein.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED
The Extended Service Plan does not cover damage caused by:
• Failure to provide manufacturer’s recommended maintenance or to operate in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
• Accidental or unintentional physical impact, spilled liquids.**
• Fire, exposure to weather, earthquake, Act of God or battery leakage.
• Improper use or failure of any electrical source (including, without limitation, power surge.)
• Damage to electronic files and software, including damage caused by repairs under this Plan (it is your responsibility to back up all data residing on any product prior to delivery of the product to us, under this Plan), consequential or incidental damages, including, without limitation, damages for loss of use.
• Personalized data such as contact lists, photos, video, and music downloads. Customized software, such as personal information managers, games or software used to track financial details or portfolios, including, but not limited to, cryptocurrency. Any Damages, loss of profits, loss of property, loss of earnings, loss of business opportunities, misappropriation of personal information stored on device or any other loss, however caused, including from use of the services or your device.
• Damages related to delays in providing service under this Plan.
• Damage of a cosmetic nature or the cost of lost or consumable parts (excluding Laptop batteries & adapters which have a one time replacement.)
• Damage to any accessories or attachments.
• Virus removal.
• Damages resulting from modifications to any product component by any person not authorized by Staples to complete such modifications.
• Loss or theft of product, software, data or accessories
• On-site service
• Intentional damage, misuse or abuse.
**Covered by the Easycare Plus with Accidental version of this service plan
TRANSFER OF PLAN
The Plan is not transferable by you.
PAYMENT METHOD
Following Credit Cards will be accepted for the monthly renewal for the monthly plan. (MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Staples Credit Card.)
CANCELLATION
We may cancel this Plan at our option on the basis of fraud or misrepresentation, or the unauthorized repair of the product. You may return this Plan for any reason within 30 days of purchase and receive a full refund on the Plan price, less the cost of any claims paid (if any). To receive your refund, you must return to any Canadian Staples location with this document and all original receipts. After 30 days no refund will be applied.
COMPLETE AGREEMENT
This document sets out the complete agreement between you and us with respect to the Plan. There are no other representations, warranties or agreements between you and us with respect to the plan or product.
Easycare Education Service Plan
In this Easycare Plan (“Plan”), “we”, “us” and “our” refers to Staples Canada Inc. (Staples) and “you” and “your” refers to the purchaser of the Plan. By purchasing this Easycare Plan, you understand that this is a legal contract and acknowledge that you have read and accept these terms and conditions.
What the Plan Covers
- Accidental Claim
Provide a replacement product or issue a gift card for the purchased value of the original product, provided the product has failed during normal usage under the Plan’s term.
- Replacement Claim
Provide a replacement product or issue a gift card for the purchased value of the original product, provided the product has failed during normal usage under the Plan’s term. The limit of our liability under this Plan shall not exceed the purchased value of the product at the time of your claim, excluding the cost of the Staples Easycare Education Plan.
Deductible
A deductible applies dependent on the price of the device, and the original product becomes the property of Staples (Deductible range: $0 - $249.99…$25; $250 - $499.99…$50; $500 - $999.99…$75). Laptop 3-year plan deductibles are 0-249.99 … $35, $250 - $499.99 … $60
Monthly Easycare Service Plans
Coverage begins on date of product purchase and runs concurrently with manufacturer’s limited warranty. Plan excludes repairs covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. After a diagnostic assessment is completed on the unit, you will be contacted by our Staples Easycare Specialist. If the unit is repaired, it will be returned to you with all shipping charges back to the store covered by your Staples Easycare Plus policy. If the unit cannot be repaired, you will receive a claim payment in the form of a Staples in-store credit for the current value of the unit. Upon acceptance of the claim payment, the plan has been fulfilled in its entirety. Product Eligibility
This Plan is limited to eligible students and faculty staff that are governed by a public or private school administration that has been approved for the Education Service Plan by Staples. An expectation must be met of a minimum of 10 devices to be purchased by any group from the approved board, school or classroom.
Term of the Plan
The term of this Plan begins from the date of product purchase. It continues for the specifi ed number of years, except if a gift card or a replacement product is provided under the Plan, in which case the Plan ends on the date the gift card or replacement product is provided. The original product becomes the property of Staples Canada and must be returned to the store before the replacement or gift card is provided. Unauthorized repairs may void the Plan coverage. A new Plan must be purchased for any replacement tablet or laptop.
Accidental Coverage
Accidental coverage includes liquid spills, drops, cracks, broken AC pins and LCD screens. Accidental coverage is limited to ONE claim over the life term of your Plan. If a claim is made under the Plan, we will at our option: • Replace the product with the same make and model if available at the Staples store where the claim was opened. • Or provide a Staples Canada gift card for the purchase price of the product covered (including taxes), minus the applicable deductible listed under Deductible. In both options, the coverage will end on the date the replacement product or the Staples gift card was issued.
How to Obtain Service
To open a claim during the Plan term, take your product, accessories and proof of purchase (product and Plan) to any Staples Canada retail store that supports this program, or call our toll-free service line: 1-877-258-0369.
What Is Not Covered
The Easycare Plan does not cover damage caused by: • Failure to provide manufacturer’s recommended maintenance or to operate in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. • Intentional damage, misuse or abuse. • Fire, exposure to weather, earthquake, Act of God or battery leakage. • Damage to electronic fi les and software, including damage caused by repairs not covered under this Plan (it is your responsibility to back up all data residing on any product prior to delivery of the product to us, under this Plan), consequential or incidental damages, including, without limitation, damages for loss of use. • Damages related to delays in providing service under this Plan. • Damage of a cosmetic nature or the cost of lost or consumable parts. • Damage to any accessories or attachments. • Damages resulting from modifications to any product component. • Loss or theft of product, software, data or accessories. • Cleaning and/or other maintenance services. • On-site service. • Restoration or recovery of DVDs.
Transfer of Plan
The Plan is not transferable by you.
Cancellation
We may cancel this Plan at our option on the basis of fraud or misrepresentation, or the unauthorized repair of the product. You may cancel this Plan for any reason within 30 days of purchase and receive a full refund on the Plan price, less the cost of any claims paid (if any). To receive your refund, you must return to any Staples Canada retail store supporting this program with this document and all original receipts. After 30 days, no refund will be applied.
Complete Agreement
This document sets out the complete agreement between you and us with respect to the Plan. There are no other representations, warranties or agreements between you and us with respect to the Plan or the product
