When you place an order with Staples.ca, the original charge you will see on your credit card will be a 'pre-authorization'. This is a reserve your credit card company puts aside while they wait for us to ship out the item(s). It is only when the items are shipped out that you get fully charged and we receive the funds.
The reasons you may see a difference between the pre-authorization and the final charge are as follows:
- The order came from 2 (or more) different warehouses and were shipped out on different dates which would result in 2 (or more) partial charges on your credit card.
- Part of the order was out of stock which resulted in the out of stock item charge to be reversed, meaning that the original pre-authorization charge was modified to reflect the new final charge.
